Unfortunately the number of pedestrians on the Vodacom side of Century City is picking up again. It seems the authorities deemed it fit to close off the railway line briege completely, so now they break down the fence on a weekly basis to run across the highway. What were they thinking? I think we might have to mobilise again.
For those travelling on the N1 into Cape Town, please note that the fence has been broken down right opposite the Vodacom building, and pedestrians might try and cross the road there. The traffic department has been notified. Below is a map showing the area where the fence is broken.
It seems that almost all the pedestrians now use the bridges in the vicinity to cross the N1, I can see that grass is covering the footpaths where they used to walk down the offramp on the N1 direction Cape Town. It has been a good few weeks since I last saw pedestrians crossing the N1 at Sable Road. There are still a few that still cross the N1 next to the railway bridge closest to the N7 in the afternoon, so be alert.
